Riverdance began as a seven-minute interval act at the Eurovision Song Contest on April 30, 1994, and opened as a full theatrical production in early 1995. Its score (composed by Bill Whelan) and touring production have become an international phenomenon, leading to long-running global tours and a 30th-anniversary production titled "Riverdance 30 – The New Generation."
