You Have Gmail! 1:00pm - 3:00pm Franklin Road Branch Whether you’re new to Gmail or looking to sharpen your skills, this class will give you the tools to take control of your inbox and communicate in the digital world. By the end, you’ll feel confident navigating Gmail, managing messages, and using its features to stay organized in your daily life. Once we cover the essentials, we will discuss when to reply, reply all, bcc, and cc in your emails. We also guide you through how to more quickly find and organize your mail. You will learn to: Send and receive mail Compose, send, and organize emails with ease Utilize filters, favorites, and labels to declutter your inbox Attach files, photos, and documents securely Schedule emails A google account is required for participation in this class. Herron-Morton - LGBTQ+ Life in the Heart of Indianapolis 2:00pm - 3:30pm Central Library Expanding Our Story: LGBTQ+ History & Herron–Morton Place From the mid-1970s through the late 1980s, a period following the Civil Rights Movement, when queer communities transformed space into cultural sanctuaries and enclaves of resistance, Herron-Morton Place served as a site of community-building, cultural production, often clandestine political organizing, and urban revitalization. Join us in person at the Central Library in the Indianapolis Special Collections Room (ISCR) to explore Herron-Morton Place, a historic neighborhood and central hub of LGBTQ+ life in Indianapolis. Made possible by a grant from The Clowes Fund. Presented by: Dr. Michael Baumann is an educator and poet with roots in Indianapolis institutions, including the Indiana Writers Center, Marian University, Indiana Youth Group, and Ivy Tech Community College. His research, which often explores identity and writing, has appeared in periodicals such as the Journal of Creative Writing Studies, the Journal of Teaching Writing, and Education Sciences. Having performed across the country, his poetry has been featured locally by the Writers Guild at Bloomington and InKY, and most recently as poet in residence with The Learning Tree (a local nonprofit) and with Indiana University’s Religion, Spirituality, and The Arts grant. Resources: This program will combine queer archival research, oral histories, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) based digital humanities to make the patterns of this history visible. Age Group: Adults Location: This program will be held in person in the Indianapolis Special Collections Room (ISCR) on the 6th floor of Central Library.
