Notice/Focus Generative Poetry Workshop
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Fort Ben Branch
What happens when you have a million things to say but can’t decide what to write about a subject or event that’s important to you? This generative poetry workshop will use analytical writing techniques to tap in to your creative side. Notice/Focus helps the writer create a close-up, personal account of a major issue. The level of specificity helps the poem avoid the vague or rushed feeling of summary. The poem itself acts as an extended metaphor: a symbol of a larger event.
This workshop is presented in partnership with the Indiana Writers Center. Check out other writing workshops at library branches this season!
Instructor Mitchell L. H. Douglas is a poet, visual artist, and cofounder of Proof: A Midwest Lit Fest. His fourth poetry collection Universal Corner was published by Persea Books in 2026.
