Bring your troop to experience what happens behind the scenes of in the R.B. Annis Mission Jurassic Paleo Lab and the Polly H. Hix Paleo Prep Lab. Meet our paleontologists, see the tools used to prep real fossils, tour the Natural Science Collections area, and learn about the newest discoveries from the museum’s active dig site in Wyoming.
Fees do not include nonmember museum admission.
What You'll Do
Explore the Paleo Lab where fossils are cleaned, studied, and prepared for research or display. See current specimens being worked on.
Meet some of our paleontologists who are actively uncovering and studying ancient life. Learn what inspired them to enter the field and hear about some of their favorite fossil finds.
Discover the specialized tools and techniques used in fossil preparation.
Tour our Natural Science Collections and see specimens not on public display to learn how they’re catalogued, stored, and used for ongoing research.
Get the inside scoop on our active dinosaur excavation site in northern Wyoming and ask all your burning questions about fieldwork, fossil hunting, and what it’s like to work in the field.

This event takes place in our R.B. Annis Mission Jurassic Paleo Lab and the Polly H. Hix Paleo Prep Lab located in the Dinosphere: Now You’re In Their World® exhibit.
We will meet in the Welcome Center and walk over together as a group.
