Explore how motion and speed work together to earn your Daisy Roller Coaster Design Challenge Badge.
What You'll Do
Get ready for a thrilling ride through science and engineering! In this hands-on adventure, Girl Scouts will:
Explore the relationship between motion and speed and how those two work together by experimenting with ramps, slopes, and curves. Learn how gravity, kinetic energy, and momentum affect how fast or slow things move.
Design and build a mini roller coaster car prototype using creative materials.
Work in small groups to create your own marble roller coaster track—with twists, turns, and maybe even a loop! Test your marble on the track and refine your design to improve performance and fun.
Solve problems and try new ideas, just like real roller coaster designers do.
Earn your Daisy Roller Coaster Design Challenge Badge by completing the challenge and showing what you’ve learned!
